Forge a positive way forward for all tamariki Māori.

Tena koutou katoa! Kua tukuna atu enei tohu ki tenei whanau miharo rawa atu. Ko Hemi te matua whangai o enei tamariki. Ko Paula to ratou koka.

E ai ki a Gabriel (7 years)‘ I thank Papatuanuku for the energy she gives our garden, and she helps our veges to grow, so we can pick them and eat them later.’

No reira, i a ahiahi whai
E ai ki a Skye, ‘ I like learning my Maori words, because I get them right.’ Koinei tetahi ahuatanga kua whakaarohia a Paula mo ona tamariki, kia mau tonu to ratou reo rangatira.

I’ve awarded these hero badges to this whanau, because I believe they are providing quality education to their tamariki mo ake tonu atu. Paula and Hemi are learning, about the importance of te reo Maori me ona tikanga to their whanau, and are utilising the skills that have been handed down to them from their ancestors to nourish and care not only their tamariki, but the whenua and Papatuanuku. Skye and Gabriel are also keen learners of te reo, tikanga, and te taiao (the environment). These practices have become ritual and part of their daily lives. Nga mihi ki a korua Paula raua ko Hemi, me korua Skye raua ko Gabriel. Mauriora!
